Chandigarh, Aug 1 — Chandigarh’s GST revenue slipped to Rs 221 crore in July, marking a 5.15% decline compared to Rs 233 crore collected in the same month last year, according to figures released by the Union Finance Ministry.

This is the second straight monthly fall in GST collections for the Union Territory. In June, the city collected Rs 220 crore, down 1.78% from Rs 224 crore in June 2024.

The cumulative post-settlement GST share for Chandigarh—factoring in both GST revenue and the SGST share from IGST—stood at Rs 750 crore till July, down 2.59% from Rs 770 crore during the same period last year.

In contrast, May 2025 saw a historic peak with collections touching Rs 363 crore, a 53.16% surge from Rs 237 crore in May 2024. April also witnessed a healthy 6.7% increase, with collections rising to Rs 334 crore from Rs 313 crore in April 2024.

Officials are yet to comment on the reasons behind the recent dip.
