Chandigarh, March 22 — The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Chandigarh Police has dismantled a drug supply racket with the arrest of a trafficker, his financial handler, and an accomplice distributing drugs in city nightclubs.
Police identified the accused as Vijay Kumar, alias Vishal, alias Buggi, his financial handler Mohit Kumar, and Rajat, alias Prabh Gill. The trio allegedly sourced narcotics from suppliers in Amritsar, Ferozepur, and Delhi before distributing them across Chandigarh.
The crackdown began on January 5, when police arrested Gautam, 21, of Ram Darbar, Phase 1, near the government tubewell at Mandi Ground, Sector 29, following a tip-off. Officers recovered 70 gm of heroin during the frisking. Gautam’s interrogation led to the arrest of another accused, Rohit, 28, from the same area, with 10.30 gm of heroin seized from him.
Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Mohit Kumar, 30, from Landmark Hospital, Sector 33, on March 15. During questioning, Mohit revealed that he handled all financial transactions for Vijay’s drug operations.
Police mentioned that Mohit confessed to purchasing an MG Gloster car worth ₹22 lakh using drug proceeds. He registered the vehicle under the name of Vijay’s girlfriend, Chahat, after forging her Aadhaar card details.
