Chandigarh, Jan 26: The Chandigarh Administration has announced that all government and private schools in the city will remain closed on Tuesday, January 27. The decision was made public on Monday afternoon following the conclusion of the official state-level Republic Day celebrations.

The holiday serves as a scheduled break for students and staff after the primary event held at the Parade Ground. All educational institutions across the Union Territory are expected to resume their normal operations on Wednesday.

During the 77th Republic Day celebrations, UT Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad addressed the gathering, noting the city’s role as a symbol of the nation’s progress. He mentioned that Chandigarh was originally envisioned to reflect the modern aspirations of an independent India.

The Chief Secretary further said that the city continues to be recognized for its orderly environment and commitment to administrative excellence.

“Chandigarh has consistently upheld the values of good governance, institutional integrity, and citizen participation,” Prasad said during his address.
