Phagwara, Sept. 6 — A 21-year-old college student from Ludhiana lost his life Friday afternoon in a road accident near Brahmpur village on the Anandpur Sahib–Nangal National Highway (NH-503).
The deceased, identified as Devansh Dhonsi, was a student at Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology (SVIET) in Chandigarh. According to police, Devansh was riding a motorcycle with a female co-passenger, also a student of SVIET, en route to Jawali in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. He was dropping her off when the accident occurred.
Police said Devansh failed to negotiate a pothole on the highway, causing the motorcycle to skid. A truck-tanker traveling from the opposite direction struck him, killing him instantly. The female passenger sustained injuries and was rushed to Nangal Civil Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
A local police official confirmed that a case has been registered, and further investigation into the accident is underway.
