Hoshiarpur, May 6: A pack of stray dogs fatally attacked an eight-year-old girl in Kharal Khurd village on Wednesday morning as she prepared to leave for school. Local police confirmed the victim, identified as Saloni, was a resident of the Tanda police station area in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. when the child stepped out of her residence. According to law enforcement officials, a group of roaming dogs surrounded the girl and inflicted fatal injuries. Saloni was the daughter of Pyare Lal, a native of Uttar Pradesh who had relocated to the village for work.
Concern grew when the child failed to return home within a typical timeframe, prompting a search by her parents and neighbors. Searchers discovered the girl lying on the roadside in a pool of blood. While family members immediately transported her to the Community Health Centre in Tanda, medical staff stated that she had succumbed to her injuries before arrival.
“The girl was brought to the facility in a critical state, but doctors declared her brought dead,” a police spokesperson affirmed. Following the report, investigative teams arrived at the scene to collect evidence and take custody of the body for further formalities. Authorities maintained that a full investigation into the circumstances of the attack is currently underway.
