KHANDOOR SAHIB — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday disbursed ₹1,262.54 crore directly into the bank accounts of 36.87 lakh women across Punjab as the second installment of the ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna’.
Addressing a gathering at Sri Goindwal Sahib, Chief Minister Mann stated that each eligible beneficiary received a combined three-month sum ranging between ₹3,000 and ₹4,500. He highlighted that the scheme has so far distributed over ₹3,824 crore directly to beneficiaries, aiming to cover nearly one crore women across the state without arbitrary household caps. Mann asserted that his administration is utilizing public tax revenue strictly for social welfare programs, including monthly financial support, free electricity, and free bus travel for women.
Taking aim at opposition parties, the Chief Minister claimed that political rivals would terminate these social assistance programs if returned to power. He also highlighted state achievements in public education, noting Punjab’s rise in national school education rankings and an increase in competitive exam qualifications among government school students.
