Chandigarh, October 24: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday announced the formation of a CM Flying Squad to monitor the quality of link roads being constructed and repaired across the state.
The squad comprises senior officials from the Punjab Mandi Board and the Public Works Department (PWD). Superintending Engineers Davinder Singh, Baldev Singh, Manpreet Singh Dua, and Rajiv Saini have been tasked with supervising construction work in the Malwa, Majha, and Doaba regions.
“This initiative is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in road construction and maintenance,” a government spokesperson said. “The squad will inspect the quality of work and ensure that repair projects are carried out efficiently.”
The announcement comes after CM Mann launched a major repair scheme covering 19,492 km of link roads from Tarn Taran, with a total budget of Rs 3,425 crore. The newly formed flying squads will oversee these repairs and conduct regular inspections to maintain quality standards.
Officials said the squad will visit project sites across the state, examine ongoing work, and report directly to the Chief Minister’s office to prevent substandard construction.
