Chandigarh, November 4: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for clinching the ICC World Cup title, calling the players “brand ambassadors” of the state and symbols of hard work and courage.

Speaking with team members through video conferencing, Mann said the team’s victory over South Africa was “historic” and reflected the strength and determination of India’s daughters. “By winning the World Cup, these daughters have not only created history but have conquered the world,” he said. “They are the pride of our state, and we will honour them with a grand felicitation on their return to Punjab.”

The Chief Minister said the team’s achievement has brought immense pride and joy to the nation. “It is a matter of satisfaction that our team has brought glory to the country by winning this cup,” Mann noted, congratulating the players for their commitment and discipline.

He added that Punjab continues to contribute significantly to India’s sports talent, pointing out that several national teams — including cricket, hockey, basketball, and football — are currently captained by players from the state. “It is a joyous moment that today, Punjab’s daughters are leading India across sports,” he said.

Mann said the World Cup triumph would inspire a new generation of athletes to take up sports and strive for excellence. “These daughters have set a shining example of what perseverance and talent can achieve,” he remarked. “They have raised the nation’s head high with this wonderful victory.”
