Hoshiarpur, April 15: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday dedicated development projects worth ₹150 crore to the Tanda Urmur region, marking a major push to upgrade infrastructure in Punjab’s Kandi belt. The package includes the renovation of link roads, the construction of a high-level bridge, and the establishment of several modern health and wellness centres across local villages.

During a state-level event in Hoshiarpur district, the Chief Minister affirmed that ₹141.88 crore has been allocated specifically for the overhaul of the area’s road network. He noted that the PWD will also construct a ₹2.39 crore bridge to facilitate the movement of devotees heading to Gurdwara Rampur Kheda Sahib.

“Our government is taking the state’s infrastructure and health facilities to new heights,” Mann stated in a social media post. He maintained that for 70 years, the region had suffered from political discrimination, asserting that the Aam Aadmi Party government is committed to providing quality facilities to every citizen.

The health sector received a significant boost with the announcement of wellness centres in Kandhalan Shekhan, Rajpur, Dhugga Kalan, Prempur, Giljian, and Jahura, alongside an Urban Primary Health Center in Garhdiwala. Mann declared that the state has already opened 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics, providing free medicines and diagnostic tests to the public.

In his address, the Chief Minister also criticized previous regimes for prioritizing familial interests over public welfare. He maintained that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna now provides free treatment up to ₹10 lakh for 65 lakh families, ensuring that financial constraints no longer hinder access to healthcare.
