Committee Formed to Address Concerns of Transferred Electricity Employees

Chandigarh, 1 March, 2025 — The Chandigarh administration has constituted a committee under the Chandigarh Electricity Reform Transfer Scheme, 2025, to receive options, representations, and suggestions from employees transferred to Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) to safeguard their rights and liabilities.

Following the transfer of the electricity distribution and retail supply functions, along with personnel from the electricity department, to CPDL on February 1, the committee has been set up as mandated by the Electricity Act, 2003.

The law requires such a committee to be formed within a month of the transfer to address concerns of affected employees.

The committee is chaired by the Secretary, Engineering, with the Secretary, Personnel; Special Secretary, Finance; Legal Remembrancer; and UT Chief Engineer as members.

The Superintending Engineer, Electricity Operation Circle, UT, will serve as member-convenor.

Transferred employees can submit their options, representations, and suggestions to the Superintending Engineer, Electricity Operation Circle/STU, Chandigarh-cum-member-convenor, at the 5th Floor, Deluxe Building, Sector-9D.

The deadline for submissions is April 30.
