Tarn Taran, October 28: As campaigning for the Tarn Taran bypoll gathers momentum, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday said voters should evaluate the ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s record before the upcoming election.

Speaking at a rally in support of party nominee Karanbir Singh Burj, Warring said the government had completed nearly four years in office and “people now deserve answers” on the promises made earlier.

The PCC chief recalled AAP’s pre-poll commitments, including monthly financial aid for women, curbing drugs and crime, and reforms in education and health. “Punjab expected a turnaround in these areas, but the situation remains concerning,” he said.

While addressing the gathering, Warring accused the government of not delivering on several welfare schemes but added that “the people’s voice during this election will decide the direction of the state.”

The Congress leader, who is camping in Tarn Taran to strengthen the party’s outreach, said Burj represented a “clean and service-oriented image” and urged voters to support him.

It is pertinent to mention that the Bhagwant Mann government intensified its campaign against narcotics across Punjab. Over the past year, law enforcement agencies have seized properties belonging to alleged drug traffickers and demolished several structures said to have been built through proceeds of the drug trade.

Officials have maintained that these actions are part of a broader crackdown to dismantle the financial networks supporting the narcotics trade.
