Chandigarh, Dec 2: Police have recovered the white Hyundai Creta allegedly used in the Sector 26 shootout that killed Inderpreet Singh, known as Parry, after the assailants fled towards Panchkula on Monday evening. The vehicle was found abandoned near the Mansa Devi Complex in Sector 5, Chandigarh Crime Branch officials said.
Investigators said the Creta was fitted with a fake registration number belonging to a Ludhiana man’s Chevrolet Spark. “It was a cloned plate. The suspects left the vehicle and escaped before teams could intercept them,” an officer said.
Initial inquiry suggests the Creta had been tailing Parry’s Kia Seltos moments before the attack. Police said an insider sitting beside Parry fired the first shots inside the car, after which gunmen outside the vehicle opened further fire and fled in the Creta, taking a U-turn from the Sukhna Lake-side stretch.
Multiple police teams are analysing CCTV footage along the Sector 26 market, Sukhna Lake, the dividing road to Panchkula and the Sector 5–Mansa Devi corridor to retrace the escape route.
Hours after the killing, a Facebook account using the name Hari Boxer Aarzoo Bishnoi claimed responsibility, alleging Parry had shifted loyalties to syndicates linked to Goldy Brar or Rohit Godara and extorted clubs using their names. The post warned of a new round of “gang war.”
Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the account. “The claims made online will be examined as part of the investigation,” an officer directly said.
