Zirakpur, 15 October, 2024: Two masked men carried out a daylight robbery at Divya Jewellers in Lohgarh, Zirakpur, on Monday, brandishing guns and firing shots inside the store. However, no one was injured in the incident.
The shop owner, identified as Sam, said that the robbers entered the shop around 2 PM and locked the door behind them.
He recounted, “The robbers took me to a storeroom inside the shop and assaulted me. They fired two gunshots from their pistol while pointing at my feet.”
After spending approximately 10 minutes in the shop, they escaped on a Hero Splendor Plus motorcycle, taking gold jewellery with them.
Following the alarm raised by the victim, nearby shopkeepers and passersby rushed to the scene and notified the police control room.
An eyewitness recalled that when the shopkeeper bolted out of the store shouting for help, he attempted to pursue the robbers but was forced to stop when they aimed their pistol at him.
Manpreet Singh, the Rural Superintendent of Police, along with DSP Jaspinder Singh Gill, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
Singh confirmed that the police had obtained CCTV footage from the shop and expressed confidence that the suspects would be apprehended soon.
A case has been registered against unidentified individuals, he added.
