Dharamsala: The Dal Lake in Dharamsala is experiencing a concerning decline in water levels once again, prompting students from the Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) to launch a campaign aimed at saving the fish inhabiting the lake.
Reports indicate that the dwindling water supply is leading to fish fatalities, raising alarm among local residents and environmental advocates.
To combat this issue, the students have engaged volunteers, including locals and environmentalists, to assist in their efforts.
Together, they excavated a pit near the lake, filled it with water, and transferred the fish from the lake to this temporary sanctuary.
This marks the second instance in recent years where the Dal Lake has suffered significant desiccation, resulting in the loss of aquatic life.
The lake holds religious significance for the local Gaddi community, who have expressed deep concern over its diminishing water levels and the potential impact on their cultural heritage.
