Amritsar, July 22 — Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has reached Punjab for the latest schedule of Border 2, where he will portray 1971 Indo-Pak war hero Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon — the only Indian Air Force officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra.

Currently filming at a location near Tarn Taran, Dosanjh is working with director Anurag Singh and longtime manager Sonali Singh. He gave fans a glimpse of the shoot by sharing behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, writing that he had “arrived in Punjab.”

Dosanjh also posted a tribute to Sekhon on his Instagram stories on July 17, marking the IAF hero’s 80th birth anniversary. Sekhon is remembered for his courageous defence of the Srinagar Air Base during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

The actor was spotted at Amritsar airport wearing a check shirt and trousers — a look reminiscent of another of his upcoming roles, Jaswant Singh Khalra, the slain Sikh human rights activist whose biopic Punjab 95 is awaiting release amid a censor board controversy.

Dosanjh’s arrival puts to rest earlier speculation about his exit from Border 2 following the Sardarji 3 controversy. Dismissing the rumours, he had earlier shared a behind-the-scenes video from the film’s set featuring co-stars Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Mona Singh, capturing light-hearted moments during the shoot.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a sequel to the 1997 war epic Border, and aims to revisit the heroism of Indian soldiers during the 1971 war through a new lens and cast.
