Chandigarh, December 1, 2024 – In a significant disruption to local travel, the DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) train service operating between Udhampur and Pathankot has been suspended for three months.
The suspension, which will last from December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025, affects trains number 04615/04616 (Pathankot to Udhampur) and 06951/06952 (Udhampur to Pathankot), with the latter departing daily at 8 AM.
The closure of this service is expected to create major hardships for daily commuters, particularly the 2,000 to 3,000 passengers who rely on the train for travel from stations such as Ramnagar, Manwal, Sangar, and Bajlata. These areas will be left without a convenient mode of transport, forcing passengers to explore alternative and often less reliable options.
The decision has sparked widespread anger among the affected passengers. In response, several commuters have raised their concerns with the Ministry of Railways, as well as local political leaders, including the Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Member of Parliament and Union Minister of State Dr. Jatinder Singh.
Passengers are urging the authorities to reconsider the suspension and take necessary actions to ensure that the inconvenience caused is addressed in a timely manner.
