Oryol, 22 December 2024: A Ukrainian drone strike ignited a fire at a fuel facility in the Oryol region, Russian authorities reported. The attack, which occurred overnight, targeted the facility in Stalnoi Kon, a village roughly 9.4 kilometers (5.8 miles) northeast of Oryol city and 170 kilometers (105 miles) from Ukraine’s border.

“The fire has been extinguished without casualties or significant damage,” Oryol Governor Andrey Klychkov said in a Telegram post.

Widespread Drone Activity Reported
Russia’s Defense Ministry disclosed that air defenses intercepted 42 Ukrainian drones overnight across five regions. According to reports, 20 were shot down over the Oryol region, with the remaining drones intercepted across the Rostov, Bryansk, Kursk, and Krasnodar regions.

The Rostov and Bryansk regional authorities have yet to release information on damages or casualties from the intercepted drones.

In a related development, Russian news agencies reported that Russian forces captured two villages in Ukraine—Lozova in Kharkiv and Sontsivka in Donetsk.

Ukraine Counters with Interceptions
