Greater Noida: Speaking as the Chief Guest at a special business session during the Fourth Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal stated that Uttar Pradesh has embarked on a transformative economic journey whose impact is recognized globally.
The Union Minister mentioned the state’s transition from past fiscal deficits and law-and-order concerns to an investment-friendly environment driven by infrastructure, including expressways, airports, and major industrial parks. He cited emerging investments in advanced sectors such as defense corridors, semiconductor manufacturing, and robotics hubs in Greater Noida as proof of the state’s shifting economic profile. Addressing the gathering on leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) for global business growth, the Minister stated that Uttar Pradesh is positioned to expand its annual exports from roughly ₹2 lakh crore to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030.
The Union Minister pointed out that improved administrative governance has significantly boosted state revenues, noting that excise collections have surged nearly fivefold compared to 2016–17 alongside notable increases in mining and property registration fees. He affirmed that these fiscal gains have enabled the state government to present surplus budgets and allocate dedicated funding toward public welfare and infrastructure without burdening future generations with debt.
State Cabinet Ministers Bhupendra Chaudhary, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Hansraj Vishwakarma, and senior MSME department officials were present during the address.
