Chandigarh, March 8 — The third Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicle (REV) Expo kicked off at Chandigarh’s Sector 34 exhibition ground on Friday, drawing attention to advancements in electric mobility and solar technology.
Organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with Eventage, the three-day event was inaugurated by municipal commissioner Amit Kumar.
Kumar noted that the integration of EVs and solar power is key to a sustainable future. “Chandigarh has earned its reputation as a ‘Green City’ by embracing solar energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and improving air quality,” he said.
The expo featured a wide range of EVs, including two-wheelers, along with charging stations, solar inverters, and energy modules. Maruti’s e-Vitara, launched for the northern market, drew significant interest with its two battery configurations—a 49kWh pack generating 143hp and a 61kWh pack producing 173hp. Mahindra showcased the BE 6, featuring sharp LED accents, alongside the XEV 9e.
Zap Cabs, an all-electric fleet provider, stood out in the cab services sector, offering local and intercity travel options to promote zero-emission transportation.
Madhusudan Vij, chair of PHDCCI’s Chandigarh chapter, said over 50 companies specializing in solar energy and charging infrastructure are participating in the expo. Co-chair Suvrat Khanna added that EV adoption is vital in reducing air pollution, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and enhancing energy efficiency.
