Explosion-like Sound Outside Gurdaspur Police Post

Gurdaspur, 21 December 2024— An explosion-like sound near the Wadala Bangar police chowki in Gurdaspur district on Friday night set off alarm bells, leading to a swift police investigation. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on December 22, 2024, prompting panic in the area, although authorities found no evidence of an actual explosion.

This marks the third such event in the past week, following a blast at the Islamabad police station in Amritsar on December 17, which caused no injuries. Local residents reported hearing a loud sound outside the police chowki, and immediately alerted the authorities. However, despite the initial panic, no explosives or other suspicious materials were found at the scene.

“We received information from locals and the control room about a loud noise. Upon arrival, we found shattered glass on a door and a brick nearby. We are continuing to investigate the situation,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurdaspur Dayama Harish Kumar Om Prakash.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Jugraj Singh and other senior officers, including SSP Kumar, were quick to respond to the site. “Senior officers arrived at the location promptly after receiving details from the deputy superintendent of police. The situation was immediately assessed, and we are examining all possibilities,” added Kumar.

Authorities remain cautious, noting that no direct evidence points to an explosion, though the shattered glass and nearby brick are being closely examined as part of the ongoing probe.

This incident follows another suspected blast outside the Bakshiwal police chowki in Gurdaspur on December 20.

Social media posts, which remain unverified, have claimed that the Khalistan Zindabad Force, a separatist group, is behind the recent incidents, although no official confirmation has been made by the police regarding the involvement of any terror group.

As investigations continue, the police are working to piece together the details surrounding these disturbances.
