Chandigarh, Feb 19: A massive search operation was carried out at the Punjab and Haryana Secretariat on Thursday morning following a threatening email warning of explosive devices. The alert triggered the deployment of multiple security agencies to the high-profile Sector 1 area, which houses the top offices of the state government.
Police officials maintained that the search operation included detailed sanitization of all floors and surrounding areas. “No suspicious objects have been recovered during the investigation,” stated a representative of the security teams, confirming that the premises were cleared following the sweep. The official noted that the situation is now under control and regular administrative work has resumed.
The scare follows a pattern of recent hoaxes across North India, including similar threats sent to schools and courts in Amritsar, Patiala, and Delhi. Investigators asserted that these recurring messages appear designed to cause public panic. While the threat was found to be unsubstantiated, law enforcement agencies affirmed that they would maintain an increased presence at the Secretariat to ensure the safety of all personnel.
