Moga, Sept 27: The Vigilance Bureau has arrested a female Station House Officer along with a Home Guard jawan posted in Moga district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. Official spokespersons from the bureau confirmed that the enforcement action was executed following a detailed trap operation based on a formal complaint detailing financial extortion linked to official police duties.
In an official statement, the Vigilance Bureau spokesperson affirmed that the Station House Officer had already been under continuous administrative and operational scrutiny prior to the arrest. The surveillance followed recurring intelligence reports alleging that illicit monetary transactions were being actively channeled through her official gunman. Investigating officers maintained that the Home Guard personnel was caught directly assisting in the bribe transaction at the time of the apprehension.
Following the arrest, authorities registered a formal case under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Vigilance officials asserted that technical evidence and recovered currency notes have been taken into custody to support the ongoing legal proceedings, while further investigation remains active to determine if additional staff members were involved in the racket.
