Chandigarh, 4 January 2025: Flight operations at Chandigarh International Airport were again severely affected by fog on Saturday morning, marking the second consecutive day of disruption. Ten flights were delayed due to significantly reduced visibility, which fell below the required 1,100 meters for safe operations.

An official from the airport confirmed that the scheduled arrival of Indigo flight 6E1417 from Abu Dhabi at 9 a.m. was diverted to New Delhi due to the adverse weather conditions. Several other departures were delayed, including Air India flights AI2638 to New Delhi, AI438 to Mumbai, and AI458 to Leh, as well as Indigo flights 6E146 to Lucknow, 6E6056 to Goa, 6E112 to Ahmedabad, and 6E1418 to Abu Dhabi.

“Visibility was too low to operate flights safely,” the official explained. “Delays were inevitable, and we are working with airlines to minimize further disruptions.”

The impact of thick fog has been felt throughout Punjab and Haryana, with conditions worsening over the past few days. On Friday morning, two flights were canceled and 25 others were delayed as visibility remained poor, though operations resumed by noon when conditions improved.
