Chandigarh, 24 February 2025 — A fresh spell of rain is expected in the region before the month ends, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a western disturbance from February 26 onward. Officials said the system will intensify on February 27 and 28 as moisture from the Arabian Sea interacts with existing weather patterns.
“The approaching western disturbance is expected to bring rain, and temperatures will drop,” an IMD official mentioned. “Snowfall is also likely in Himachal Pradesh, which will contribute to cold winds in the plains even after the weekend.”
Following last week’s showers, the city has recorded 31.1 mm of rain since January 1, which is 47.1% below normal compared to the same period last year.
Temperatures have fluctuated in recent days, with the maximum rising from 23.9°C on Saturday to 25.4°C on Sunday, slightly above normal. The minimum temperature increased marginally from 11.3°C to 11.4°C, remaining 0.7°C below normal.
IMD predicts that over the next three days, daytime temperatures will range between 26°C and 27°C, while nighttime temperatures will stay between 11°C and 12°C.
