CHANDIGARH, October 13 — Punjab is set to welcome a major industrial investment as Ganga Acrowools Limited announced plans to set up a textile unit in the state worth ₹637 crore, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The project comes under the state government’s ‘Invest Punjab’ initiative, aimed at reviving Punjab’s industrial base and positioning the state as a top manufacturing hub in India.
Officials said the new textile unit is expected to generate thousands of jobs for the state’s youth, while revitalizing Punjab’s historic identity in the textile sector. “This investment will not only strengthen the local economy but also place Punjab prominently on the textile manufacturing map,” said a senior official from the industry department.
The state government has actively facilitated industrial growth through measures such as single-window clearance, improved land availability, and better infrastructure for electricity and water supply. Ganga Acrowools cited these factors, along with access to skilled workers and government support, as key reasons for choosing Punjab.
The project is expected to boost the textile sector’s contribution to the state’s economy, expand exports, and directly enhance Punjab’s GDP. Officials noted that the investment will also benefit ancillary industries, including supply chain, logistics, and packaging, creating a wider ripple effect across the region.
Ganga Acrowools, a reputed Indian textile company, has received swift approvals through coordination among various state departments and the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion. “Punjab’s investor-friendly environment and prompt administrative support set it apart from other states,” an official said.
Chief Minister Mann said the project signals the government’s commitment to re-establishing Punjab as an industrial power. “Big investments like Ganga Acrowools are an important step in this direction,” he noted, adding that the government aims to attract even larger investments in the future.
The textile unit is being hailed as a “new ray of hope” for Punjab’s youth, promising economic growth and opportunities for local entrepreneurs and traders. The government emphasized that the doors for investment remain open, with comprehensive support for industrialists.
Ganga Acrowools’ ₹637 crore project underscores the state’s industrial revival, expected to transform the local economy and improve livelihoods for thousands of families.
