At least 21 people were killed and dozens more injured in an Israeli airstrike on a mosque near Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, Gaza, early Sunday, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Eyewitnesses reported that the mosque was being used as a shelter for displaced individuals, and the casualty count could rise.
Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in cities worldwide, including Paris, New York, and Cape Town, demanding an end to Israel’s “military actions” in Gaza as the first anniversary of the war approaches.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed at least 41,870 Palestinians and injured 97,166 in Gaza.
In Israel, the conflict has claimed the lives of at least 1,139 people due to Hamas-led attacks on October 7, with more than 200 individuals taken captive.
