Thiruvananthapuram, November 3 — Police have launched an investigation after a German musician was allegedly stalked by a group of unidentified men at the popular beach town of Varkala in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district.

The incident occurred on the evening of November 1, when musician Lena Maier was near the Varkala Helipad area around 6.45 pm. According to the FIR, she was followed and harassed by a group of men before she reported the matter to German authorities in Thiruvananthapuram.

Following her complaint, the Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany lodged an official representation with the District Police Chief, prompting the registration of a case at the Varkala police station on Sunday.

Police have invoked Sections 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 190 (common object liability), and 78(2) (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“We are examining CCTV footage from the area and working to identify the accused. It is suspected that the men may be from another state,” a senior police officer said.

Authorities said multiple teams have been tasked with tracking down the suspects.
