Chandigarh, Oct 9: “The world is recognizing Punjab as a land of opportunity,” Industry and Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs Minister Sanjeev Arora said. “Global giants like Amazon, Nissan-Renault, Siemens, De Heus, and PepsiCo have chosen Punjab as the next big investment destination. This is a matter of pride for every Punjabi.”
Punjab is emerging as a hotspot for global investment, attracting companies from Japan, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Since March 2022, the state has received investment proposals worth ₹1.23 lakh crore, promising 4.7 lakh jobs, Arora said on Thursday.
Arora described the state as “the Punjab of your dreams, where every village, every city, every family is experiencing waves of prosperity. The sacred land of Gurus and India’s breadbasket is now shining on the global stage under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership.”
According to the minister, Punjab has attracted over ₹18,000 crore in foreign investment since 2021, including more than ₹8,000 crore in new projects this year. These investments are creating thousands of jobs while promoting technological and sustainable growth.
In Rajpura, Patiala, Netherlands’ century-old company De Heus inaugurated a ₹150 crore animal feed plant, providing employment to over 300 youth and opening new markets for farmers in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Mohali will see ₹7,000 crore in AI and data center projects from Amazon Web Services, generating over 500 high-tech jobs and bolstering Punjab’s role in Digital India. In Ludhiana, Nissan-Renault’s ₹500 crore electric vehicle plant will employ 300 youth and support a greener transport sector.
“Germany’s Siemens Energy has launched ₹450 crore solar-wind projects in Bathinda and Fazilka, creating 200 jobs and fostering environmental sustainability, while PepsiCo’s ₹150 crore expansion in Sangrur has generated 100 jobs and promoted eco-friendly packaging. Other global brands, including Nestlé, Hindustan Unilever, Cargill, and Freudenberg, have invested ₹3,000 crore since 2023, creating 3,000 jobs across the state.”
“The light of development is spreading in every corner of Punjab,” Arora said. “We’ve uprooted bureaucracy from its roots. Punjab is now giving wings to every youth’s dreams.”
The Mann government has simplified investment processes through the FastTrack Punjab portal, India’s fastest single-window system offering over 150 services. Projects up to ₹125 crore receive approval within five days and full permission in 45 days under the Punjab Right to Business Act. Affordable electricity, land, and tax incentives have further strengthened Punjab’s appeal to investors.
Beyond industrial growth, Punjab is leveraging its status as India’s breadbasket to become a hub for food processing. Brands like Nestlé and PepsiCo are setting up large-scale operations, while automotive clusters in Ludhiana-Rupnagar and technology initiatives through Siemens and AWS are positioning Punjab as a leader in renewable energy and digital innovation. Plans for a film city in Amritsar and enhanced tourism policies are adding to the state’s economic diversity.
Punjab’s GSDP has reached ₹8.91 lakh crore, reflecting 9% annual growth. Despite covering only 1.5% of India’s land, the state contributes significantly to national output. Investments are not only generating jobs but also increasing exports and promoting sustainable practices, officials said.
Looking ahead, CM Bhagwant Mann has invited global investors to the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit in Mohali from March 13-15, 2026. “This summit is a celebration of Punjab’s strength. We aim to attract over ₹20,000 crore in AI, semiconductors, and green energy. Come, let’s build a new Punjab together!” he said.
Under the Mann government, Punjab is positioning itself as a destination for employment, prosperity, and innovation, blending its agricultural heritage with modern industry to offer a new model of growth for India.
