Mohali, June 12: In a major financial reprieve for residents of Sectors 76 to 80 in Mohali, MLA Kulwant Singh has successfully negotiated with the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) to slash enhancement charges from ₹3164 to ₹839 per square meter.
The decision came after sustained efforts by Kulwant Singh, who held discussions with GMADA Chief Administrator Vishesh Sarangal. Singh had been actively pursuing the issue, raised by affected allottees, for the past several days.
“Residents were under heavy financial pressure. This reduction is a direct result of our continuous dialogue with the administration. It will save each allottee lakhs of rupees,” said the SAS Nagar MLA, adding that no interest or penalty will be charged on unpaid dues, and excess amounts already paid will be refunded or adjusted.
Singh also criticized former Mohali MLA and minister Balbir Sidhu, blaming him for allowing the enhancement burden to accumulate unchecked for political benefit. “From 2008 to 2025, the enhancement tripled because no action was taken. I am fulfilling my responsibility by standing with the people and securing this relief,” he said.
He urged the allottees to deposit the revised charges promptly to avoid future liabilities.
