Mohali, June 9– In a personal loss that has deeply moved fans of Punjabi icon Gurdas Maan, his younger brother Gurpanth Maan passed away on Monday at a private hospital in Mohali after battling illness for nearly two months. He was 68.
Gurpanth, a commission agent and farmer from Gidderbaha, had been under treatment at a multi-specialty hospital and was briefly discharged after signs of recovery. “He had improved, and we were hopeful. But fate had other plans,” said advocate Gurmeet Mann, a cousin of the deceased.
The late Gurpanth Maan is survived by his wife, a son and daughter, both of whom are settled abroad. He was the middle sibling, between legendary artist Gurdas Maan and their sister.
The cremation will take place tomorrow in Chandigarh, family members confirmed.
Quiet and largely away from public limelight, Gurpanth had remained closely connected with his roots and the soil, working as a farmer even as his elder brother rose to iconic status in music, cinema, and culture.
Condolences poured in from the Punjabi community and entertainment world as news of the loss spread. Many described Gurpanth as “a humble soul and a strong support behind the scenes.”
The Maan family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
