Ambala/Panipat, 16 December 2024: On Monday, farmers across Haryana organized tractor marches in support of Jagjit Singh Dallewal, a prominent farmer leader on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border, demanding the immediate implementation of the MSP Guarantee Act.
In Panipat, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) led a march starting from the Dahar toll on the Panipat-Gohana Road. Local police and administration set up extensive security arrangements for the event, which was led by Manoj Jaglan, state spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Yuva Union.
Jaglan criticized the government for its failure to address farmers’ concerns, particularly their demand for the MSP Guarantee Act.
He also raised alarm over the deteriorating health of Dallewal, who has been on a fast unto death for several days.
“The government is fast asleep,” Jaglan said, adding that the march aimed to support Dallewal’s cause and protest against the lack of response from authorities. A memorandum was submitted to the SDM of Israna at the end of the march.
In Ambala, farmers gathered at the new grain market and began their march through prominent city areas, including Manav Chowk, Agarsen Chowk, Polytechnic Chowk, and Kalka Chowk, before returning to the grain market via Civil Chowk.
Leaders warned that if Dallewal’s condition worsens, it could lead to an escalation of protests at a national level.
