CHANDIGARH, AUGUST 12 — Over two hundred patients across Punjab received cashless medical procedures totaling ₹1.39 crore under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana scheme, addressing critical burn care and long-term reconstructive needs. Official data released by the State Health Agency confirms that working-age individuals and children represent the vast majority of those requiring specialized clinical intervention.
The health department reported that men aged thirty-one to forty-five accounted for sixty-one distinct treatments valued at ₹31.82 lakh, forming the largest single demographic group. Medical facilities also administered sixty-six treatments to children under eighteen, reflecting national clinical research regarding the high incidence of burn trauma among young populations and active earners.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh affirmed that state welfare mechanisms are specifically structured to eliminate financial anxiety for affected households during extended recovery periods.
“A burn injury does not end when the flames are put out,” stated Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh. “For many patients, recovery can mean repeated procedures, rehabilitation and long-term care. Our priority is to ensure that financial hardship does not become another injury for these families. Under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, patients should be able to focus on healing, recovery and rebuilding their lives, rather than worrying about how they will pay for treatment.”
Post-burn contracture care—a vital procedure to restore mobility where scar tissue tightens over joints—accounted for seventy-five treatments totaling ₹38.90 lakh. Additional covered procedures encompassed specialized tissue expansion, chemical burn care, skin flaps, debridement, and facial reconstruction.
Regional metrics show Bathinda leading the state with sixty-three treatments provided to fifty-seven beneficiaries at an expenditure of ₹33.51 lakh, followed by Faridkot and Patiala. The minister maintained that comprehensive cashless support ensures families can navigate complex medical rehabilitation without facing overwhelming debt.
