Chandigarh, Sept 20: The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the Enforcement Directorate to submit its sealed-cover status report regarding a preliminary enquiry into land purchases by the Punjab Cricket Association directly to the court Registry, deferring further hearing in the matter to October 13.
During the proceedings, Senior Advocate Dheeraj Jain, representing the central agency, informed the bench that the enquiry concerning land deals in Bathinda and Amritsar had concluded. However, counsel representing office-bearers of the cricket body raised objections against perusing the document before the court formally decides on the maintainability of the petition.
Without opening the status report, the High Court directed the agency to submit the document along with a supporting affidavit in the Registry. The ongoing legal matter originates from a petition filed by Rakesh Handa, who had raised concerns regarding administrative and financial matters within the sports association.
