Shimla, Oct 23: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a five percent increase in Dearness Allowance for state government employees and pensioners, boosting the total DA from 45 to 50 percent just in time for Diwali. Alongside the allowance hike, the government confirmed a cash payment of Rs 10,000 for regular Class IV employees against pending pay revision arrears.
The enhanced dearness allowance will reflect in the October salary disbursements payable in November. The updated structure incorporates a one percent increment effective from July 2023 and a four percent hike starting January 2024. Meanwhile, the Finance Department will release specific procedural orders outlining the schedule for remaining arrears covering the period through September 2026.
In a separate directive, Group D staff will receive cash payouts in November to address longstanding dues originating from the January 2016 pay revision. State officials noted that while these measures bring significant relief to local personnel, Central Government employees continue to receive a higher DA rate currently standing at 60 percent.
