Indore, June 17 – The family of murdered Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi on Monday demanded a narco-analysis test on the parents and close relatives of his wife Sonam, the prime accused, in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case that has rattled the nation.
Speaking during Raja’s 13th-day death ritual, his elder brother Vipin Raghuvanshi said the family suspects a larger conspiracy behind the killing. “We want a narco test on Sonam, her parents, brother Govind, and her sister-in-law,” Vipin told reporters.
Sonam (25), along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha (20), and three others – Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi – have been arrested by Meghalaya Police, which is probing the case through an SIT.
Initially suspected to be contract killers, the three co-accused were later found to be friends of Kushwaha, police said.
“We’re seeing new videos surface related to the murder. Why weren’t these posted earlier? Those who uploaded the footage must be questioned too,” Vipin added.
Despite the grim accusations, the family expressed faith in the police investigation. “We are satisfied with Meghalaya Police’s efforts so far,” he said.
Meanwhile, tensions flared during the ritual ceremony as Sonam’s brother Govind, who was not invited, made a public appearance. “I came to seek forgiveness. If anyone suspects us, we’re ready for any investigation. We stand with Raja’s family,” he said.
However, the Raghuvanshi family remained unmoved. “I didn’t speak to him. He may have come for show. He wasn’t welcome,” said Sachin Raghuvanshi, another brother of the deceased.
Raja and Sonam had left for Sohra (Cherrapunjee) in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills shortly after their wedding. He went missing on May 23, and his body was found in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls on June 2.
Sonam, after disappearing, resurfaced in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, nearly 1,200 km from the crime scene, and surrendered to police on June 9.
