Tiruchirappalli, October 12, 2024: An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday evening after its hydraulic system failed shortly after takeoff.
According to reports, flight AXB 613, carrying 141 passengers and crew, took off from Tiruchirappalli at 5:40 p.m. and spent nearly three hours circling in the sky before safely landing at 8:15 p.m.
An emergency was immediately declared at the airport when the malfunction was detected, an official said.
The pilot’s immediate actions ensured the safety of all passengers as the aircraft made a controlled descent back to the airport, he said.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the hydraulic failure, he added.
