Amritsar, October 12, 2024 – In a major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling, Counter Intelligence Amritsar seized a large consignment of heroin, recovering 10.4 kg of the illegal substance near Sukhewala village. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth crores of rupees.
According to reports, police intercepted two suspicious vehicles near Sukhewala, but the accused, identified as Sukhraj Singh from Tarn Taran, managed to escape along with an unknown accomplice. The suspects fled in a Mahindra Scorpio, abandoning a Maruti Suzuki Baleno at the scene, which contained the heroin.
A search operation is underway, with police conducting raids to apprehend the fugitives.
DGP Gaurav Yadav took to social media platform X, sharing details of the operation. He posted: “Dealing a major blow to the cross-border drug smuggling network: Counter Intelligence, Amritsar successfully intercepted two suspicious vehicles near village Sukhewala, recovering 10.4 kg of heroin.”
