Washington, July 8: The preliminary peace pact between the United States and Iran has been officially called off by President Donald Trump during a NATO gathering in Ankara. The administration decided to terminate the ceasefire arrangement following a series of military actions in the Middle East, with Trump declaring that the current leadership in Tehran could no longer be engaged in productive dialogue. The sudden shift follows fresh American missile strikes aimed at disabling threats to international shipping channels.
The decision was made public after the president sharply criticized the character and actions of his counterparts in Tehran during an official briefing.
“To me, I think it’s over. I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum… They’re led by sick people… I’ll speak to our negotiators. They want to negotiate — they’re good people… but they have to come back to me. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just a waste of time dealing with them.”
Trump asserted that the scale of political suppression within Iran demonstrated that the government was unfit to uphold international understandings.
“They’re liars, they’re cheats, they’re sick people. They’ve hurt their people. They killed 54,000 people — as of now — who were protesting. You know, when people say how come they haven’t taken over? They can’t take over because they’re dead.”
The immediate catalyst for the collapse of the truce was an exchange of fire in critical maritime trade corridors. The president affirmed that the American military responded with significant force to unexpected provocations.
“We attacked, very powerfully, last night, the very dangerous people from Iran… There’s something wrong with them. We say, ‘Go and do your funeral stuff,’ and instead of that, they started shooting rockets at ships yesterday. So we hit them very hard last night.”
According to formal briefings from American military command structure, the operation targeted specific assets after multiple non-military hulls were endangered. The U.S. Central Command declared that the behavior of the regional forces left no choice but to respond.
“Strikes are in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s demonstrated aggression was unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire.”
The situation remains complex as both capitals trade blame over the failure of the short-lived arrangement. Earlier in the week, Iran’s top negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf asserted that regional instability was fueled by the western power, detailing a list of prior bilateral understandings that had been compromised by Washington.
