Rajasthan Royals Bring Replacements: For the remaining IPL 2025, the Rajasthan Royals have selected Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Nandre Burger of South Africa to replace Sandeep Sharma and Nitish Rana respectively, who have been sidelined by injuries.
Due to a niggle, Rana was unable to play in RR’s most recent match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. With a strike-rate of 161.94 and 217 runs from 11 games, he finished the season with two half-centuries and a best score of 81.
South African Batter Pretorius Joins Rajasthan Royals
Lhuan-dre Pretorius, a South African left-handed ‘keeper-batter’ without a cap, will join RR for INR 30 lakh. With 397 runs from 12 games at a strike-rate of 166.81, Pretorius, who plays for the Titans in domestic cricket and the Paarl Royals in SA20, was the top scorer in the most recent edition. He has participated in 33 Twenty20 matches overall, amassing 911 runs at a strike-rate of 147.17 and an average of 27.60, including six fifties.
Injury Forces Sandeep Sharma Out, Burger Steps In
Sandeep, who took nine wickets in ten games for the Royals this season, had a finger injury in the meantime. Burger played six games for the Royals last season and was selected for INR 3.5 crore.
IPL 2025 Playoff Hopes Over for Rajasthan Royals
With two games remaining against PBKS at home in Jaipur and at CSK in Chennai the Royals are out of the running for the playoffs this season.
