NEW DELHI, OCT 12: The Ministry of Home Affairs has official de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue, ending its thirty-year run as the central capital site for public demonstrations.
Following recommendations from a special committee constituted by the Ministry to identify suitable alternatives for public assemblies, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar issued an order relocating sanctioned demonstration zones.
Jantar Mantar, which became Delhi’s primary protest hub in 1993 after gatherings were restricted at the Boat Club near India Gate, will no longer host official demonstrations as authorities transition to new regulatory frameworks.
