Chandigarh, December 4, 2024 – Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, condemned the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal outside Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib, calling it “extremely unfortunate and sad.”
Stressing the sanctity of the Sikh holy site, he emphasized that the shrine is a place of fearlessness and surrender to the Guru, making the incident deeply troubling.
The Jathedar further clarified that decisions made at Sri Akal Takht Sahib are taken under the Guru’s divine authority, without external pressure. He urged accountability among senior leaders, asserting that the sanctity of such decisions remains intact.
Giani Harpreet Singh also expressed concern about the role of various agencies, stating they often disregard the gravity of such incidents.
Meanwhile, police have apprehended the attacker and are interrogating him to determine the motive.
The incident has raised alarm over security at sacred sites, with many calling for stricter safeguards.
