Ranchi, 23 November 2024: Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance has secured victory in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, winning 54 seats, surpassing the majority mark of 41. Party workers are celebrating as the alliance clinches a decisive lead over its rivals. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance trails with 29 seats.
The elections, held in two phases on November 13 and November 20, saw a record 68 percent voter turnout on November 20, the highest in Jharkhand’s electoral history.
In comparison to the 2019 elections, where the JMM won 30 seats, the Congress 16, and RJD 1, this victory marks a significant gain for the JMM-led alliance. In 2019, the alliance had secured a combined total of 47 seats, with JMM leader Hemant Soren assuming the position of Chief Minister.
