New Delhi, 27 January 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday released a manifesto featuring 15 key assurances ahead of next week’s Delhi Assembly election.
Branded as “Kejriwal ki 15 guarantees,” the document pledges significant public welfare measures, including free bus travel and a 50% discount on Delhi Metro fares for school and college students.
“This election is about deciding how taxpayers’ money should be spent,” Kejriwal said. “One ideology, represented by the BJP, prioritizes waiving massive loans for its associates, while ours ensures benefits like free electricity, education, healthcare, and transport for the common man.”
Among the promises, the Mahila Samman Yojana proposes monthly cash transfers of ₹2,100 to eligible women to address their financial needs.
Earlier, Kejriwal emphasized extending free public transport benefits to female students. Additional commitments include the Sanjeevani healthcare scheme, a clean Yamuna project, uninterrupted water supply, and the Dr. BR Ambedkar Scholarship program. This program promises to cover education, travel, and accommodation costs for Dalit students studying abroad. Temple and gurdwara priests would receive ₹18,000 per month.
Kejriwal acknowledged delays in fulfilling certain promises made during the 2020 campaign, attributing setbacks to the COVID-19 pandemic and allegations of targeted actions by the BJP. “Despite BJP’s harassment of senior AAP leaders, including arrests on charges of corruption, we stand firm on delivering our vision for Delhi,” he said.
The AAP had faced arrests of prominent figures like Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, which escalated tensions between the two parties.
Kejriwal contrasted his party’s focus on public welfare with what he described as BJP’s favoritism towards the wealthy, reiterating, “This election isn’t just about Delhi; it’s about the nation’s direction.”
