Chandigarh, July 25: The Anti-Gangster Task Force of the Punjab Police, in joint coordination with the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell and central security agencies, successfully secured the deportation of fugitive operative Jobanjit Singh, alias Joban Billa, from Jakarta, Indonesia. The accused, an active member of the Bambiha gang, was escorted back to the state after evading law enforcement while operating across multiple international jurisdictions, including Dubai.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav maintained that the successful return of the fugitive represents a significant breakthrough against transnational organized crime syndicates operating on foreign soil.
“In a breakthrough against transnational organised crime, Anti-Gangster Task Force Punjab, in coordination with OFTEC Punjab and central agencies, successfully secures the deportation of fugitive gangster Jobanjit Singh @ Joban Billa from Jakarta, Indonesia, and brings him back to Punjab,” stated Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
The accused, originating from Arjan Manga village in Amritsar Rural, stands named in over ten First Information Reports. Police documentation reveals his alleged involvement in four murder cases across the state, including the death of a 13-year-old child and the 2023 killing of Jarnail Singh in Sathiala village. Additionally, state authorities noted his role in providing logistical support to gang members, narcotics trafficking under the NDPS Act, weapons violations under the Arms Act, and running extensive extortion activities targeting business owners in the rural Amritsar belt alongside his brother, Gurwinder Singh.
Police officials affirmed that the deportation resulted from a specialized six-month international action codenamed Operation Nomad Hunt. The joint initiative involved continuous surveillance, intelligence synthesis, and direct collaboration with national and overseas law enforcement bodies to track down and neutralize cross-border criminal networks.
