Mohali, October 14, 2024: MLA Anmol Gagan Mann today inaugurated a major power infrastructure renovation project in Kharar city, valued at Rs 30 crore. The project includes the launch of a 66 KV grid at Sunny Enclave as part of ongoing efforts to provide uninterrupted power supply to the rapidly urbanizing city.
Speaking at the event, Anmol Gagan Mann said, “The capacity of existing transformers has been upgraded from 40 MVA to 63 MVA to better serve the growing energy needs of Kharar. This grid project alone has cost Rs 7.6 crore.”
She added, “To further improve the power infrastructure, we will be installing 2-3 additional transformers in each colony, with Rs 20 crore earmarked for this upgrade.”
“This project will be completed at a cost of Rs 20 crore. With increasing urbanization in Kharar, electricity consumption has risen, so there is a need to enhance the infrastructure,” she said.
Anmol Gagan Mann also mentioned that there is a proposal to build a new 66 KV grid in the Chhaju Majra area, which will become operational in the next few months.
Similarly, the replacement of the 66 KV line from Mohali to Sunny Enclave with a higher capacity line is currently in progress, she said further.
Moreover, two new transformers have been installed in the 220 KV Kharar grid to further improve its performance. This work has cost Rs 4 crore.
She further stated that the Bhagwant Mann government has already spent about Rs 30 crore to strengthen Kharar’s electricity infrastructure.
In the next few months, to meet the city’s growing demand, it is proposed to invest another Rs 30-40 crore to continue strengthening and improving the power infrastructure.
