Chandigarh, November 4, 2024: The annual International Gita Mahotsav is set to take place in Kurukshetra, Haryana, from November 28 to December 15, 2024.
Organized with customary enthusiasm, this year’s festival will feature main events between December 5 and December 11.
A Haryana government spokesperson announced that comprehensive traffic arrangements will be made to accommodate the anticipated crowds. The International Gita Mahotsav, celebrated globally since 2016, will have Tanzania as the partner country and Odisha as the partner state this year.
In addition to spiritual programs, the festival will feature a craft and Saras mela, showcasing regional art and culture. Events related to the Mahotsav will also extend to locations within the 48 kos area surrounding Kurukshetra.
The International Gita Mahotsav is an annual cultural and spiritual festival held in Kurukshetra, Haryana, celebrating the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, one of Hinduism’s sacred texts. The festival, which attracts visitors from across the world, commemorates the day Lord Krishna is believed to have delivered the Gita’s teachings to the warrior Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, a pivotal moment in the Mahabharata epic.
The festival features a range of cultural, spiritual, and academic activities, including:

Organized by the Haryana government, the event has gained international recognition since 2016, with a partner country and state invited each year to participate and showcase their own heritage.
The festival’s scope often extends to locations within the 48 Kos Parikrama, a region around Kurukshetra considered sacred in Hinduism.
