Patiala, February 15, 2025: Celebrated Sufi singer Lakhwinder Wadali mesmerized the audience with his soulful renditions on the second evening of the Patiala Heritage Festival-2025, organized by the Punjab Government at the Polo Ground. His powerful performance, blending cultural and Sufi music, elevated the festival’s spirit and left the crowd enthralled.
Tourism and Culture Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, and Mayor Kundan Gogia were among the dignitaries who attended the event. Earlier in the evening, Sufi dhadi singer Navjot Singh Mander captivated the audience with Punjabi folklore and traditional dhadi singing, accompanied by Navkanwar Mander, Jaskanwar Mander, and Manpreet Singh.
Wadali, known as the “King of Sufis,” performed a mix of Sufi kalams and folk songs, including Tu Mane Ya Na Mane, Charkha, Kamali, Dama Dam Mast Qalandar, and Heer. Expressing gratitude, he praised the Punjab Government and District Administration for promoting Punjab’s rich heritage through such festivals.
Tourism Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund stated that these heritage festivals are being organized across Punjab to attract national and international tourists. “Music connects us to our roots and carries a message of purity and elevation for the younger generation,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, under whose leadership the festival is being held, invited Patiala residents to attend the aero show at the Civil Aviation Club on Sangrur Road in the morning and a fashion show featuring Satinder Satti at Qila Mubarak at 6 p.m.
The event drew a large crowd, including Bollywood actor Javed Jafri, Punjabi actor Binnu Dhillon, and various government officials such as DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu, SSP Dr. Nanak Singh, and SP City Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam. Patiala’s music lovers and dignitaries enjoyed the evening, celebrating Punjab’s vibrant cultural legacy.
