Last Day for Nominations in Delhi Elections

New Delhi, 17 January 2025: Friday marks the final day for filing nominations in the Delhi Assembly elections, with scrutiny scheduled for 18 January and the withdrawal deadline set for 20 January.

Voting across all 70 assembly seats will take place on 5 February, with results announced on 8 February.

As per Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, 500 candidates submitted nominations on Thursday, bringing the total to 841 for the 70 constituencies.

In election-related developments, BJP President JP Nadda is set to release the party’s manifesto at 2 PM today, outlining their agenda for the Delhi elections.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging a 50% discount for students travelling on the Delhi Metro.

Kejriwal underlined the joint responsibility of the central and Delhi governments in bearing these costs and revealed plans for introducing free bus travel for students.
