CHANDIGARH — Rantej Singh Powar, the great-grandson of Akali leader Giani Shankar Singh and grandson of Sardar Bir Singh, formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Welcoming Powar into the party, Chief Minister Mann affirmed that Powar’s entry would significantly fortify the party’s organisational grassroots structure across the Doaba region, specifically within the Jalandhar Cantonment area. He maintained that politics must serve primarily as a vehicle for public service rather than a route to personal authority. The Chief Minister declared that the decision of a young leader from a distinguished political family to step into public life demonstrates the widening faith across various societal sections in the state government’s developmental policies and transparent governance.
CM Mann asserted that Punjab needs dedicated, energetic young individuals who prioritize grassroots engagement and citizen welfare. He pointed out that the current administration’s pro-people initiatives have successfully fostered a fresh political culture across the state. Expressing confidence in the new entrant, the Chief Minister stated that Powar’s deep-rooted family legacy combined with his personal commitment to public service would enhance the party’s outreach to younger generations.
Accepting the leadership’s trust, Rantej Singh Powar expressed his gratitude to CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and promised to work tirelessly for the betterment of the people of the Doaba region and Jalandhar Cantonment.
