CHANDIGARH — The Revenue Patwar Union called off its ongoing strike on Wednesday following a meeting with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, where several key administrative demands were accepted in principle.
Addressing the union delegation, Chief Minister Mann affirmed that the state administration will immediately initiate the transparent recruitment process for over 1,000 Revenue Patwaris to ensure routine public works continue without delay. He declared that the state government has agreed to restore the Patwari cadre from a state-level structure back to a district-level structure, a step designed to eliminate long-standing administrative roadblocks concerning seniority and timely promotions.
The Chief Minister asserted that formal approval for the district-cadre restoration will soon be submitted to the Council of Ministers. He maintained that employee welfare remains a priority for the government, while urging the revenue officials to fulfill their duties with complete dedication and assist in delivering public welfare schemes efficiently at the grassroots. He also encouraged employee unions to resolve future operational grievances through constructive dialogue rather than agitational paths.
Following the positive assurances from the leadership, union representatives announced the immediate termination of their agitation.
